How does it work?

Submit illustrations for a multi-media book that Heliotrope Books will co-produce with Vook, Inc.

We are seeking two types of illustration entries:

• Comic or graphic novel-style interpretation of the three winning stories.

You may submit any page of comics you have done previously, or select a portion from one of our prize-winning stories and illustrate it. Please see the sample on our home page. Submissions can be in black and white, or in color.

One winner will be chosen to illustrate the stories.

• Spot illustrations that express on-the-job tension, particularly between bosses and ‘subordinates.’

These can be drawings, paintings in any media, photographs, Photoshop collages or montages. Please see the sample on the homepage.

An indefinite number of winning spot illustrations will be selected for the project.

Who can enter?

Anyone over 18 years old may submit images. However, publication in the final project will be limited to artists not directly acquainted with the principals of Heliotrope Books, LLC.

Submission requirements

Deadline

The contest will be open between Monday, November 1 and Friday, December 31, 2010. Voting will be open to anyone who visits the website. But panelists will determine the winning pieces. Winners will be announced by Monday, January 10, 2011.

Entry fee

There is a $5 entry fee for each submission. Participants can submit up to ten images.

Awards

The prize-winning illustrator will receive credit and financial compensation for his or her work. Spot illustrators will be given credit in the final product.
